Garrison Blues (Revised/Updated: Dec 1st)

Months before Warlords of Dreanor was launched/released, I was excited to constantly hear updates about garrisons as well as speculations on how they may work through the various podcasts I listen to. Eventually, Warlords of Dreanor was released, and my god was the launch day just awful. So many lag spikes, bugs, crashes, etc. The wait time to login, was painful - login Queues on my server varied from 2-8hrs. And to make it worse DDOS attacks. I pushed through however, because I like most people, was excited to hear about Garrisons and the new expansion in general, especially after hearing the Warcraft Lounge discuss how you could make hundreds of thousands of gold with them. I was originally planning on having a garrison on every toon. Although, after going through the content - I just dont think thats going to happen, Let me Explain. When it comes to getting your garrison, you first have to grudge through a horrible bottleneck, then go through pre-quests, which is fine I guess. After about 1-2hrs you will have your garrison pending on your leveling speed. However, you start from scratch and you dont get all the building plans. After you gather a building schematic from leveling and craft your first building- you then are required to recruit followers. Followers help expand your garrison through missions and gather resources for you, whom are not provided for you and you have to find through quests. Your literally forced to level and gather plans/followers. So, if you were planning on sitting on an alt -your most likely going to have to level and grind. Another chore about the garrisons is that if your placing a profession building, regardless if you have that particular profession or not. Your required to gather materials for them, if you wanted to make any money at the start of the expansion. At the launch of the expansion,   I built a scribe building but requires milled herbs, and I'm not an herbalist. Which means I had to buy them off the auction house or level an alt to 96 until I could build an herb garden and gather them myself which can take days. Unlike the mine which provides an abundance of ore, the herb garden is small and doesn't provide nearly enough for potions, flasks, and glyphs. I noticed at level 100, that the amount of garrison resources you acquire drops drastically- making it difficult to progress. In addition to lack of garrison resources, I'm very disappointed that the level 3 building blueprints are locked behind certain achievements. So in my opinion, I feel Blizzard are using Garrisons like they did the tiller farm as a test bed for player housing. However, Blizzard has put too much emphasis on them in this expansion, as well as put too much gating within them - such as professions. Ahh, thats another thing, Professions in this expansion unlike previous ones, cant be leveled in the typical way - because most of the resource's you need to level them are limited. And alot of the items you need to craft to level up are on a daily cool-down or require so many materials, crafting just one item will bankrupt you of resources. I know many people who dont like the profession leveling process, and prefer the old way of gathering resources and just getting it done. I really hope, Blizzard learns their lesson through this Garrison business and makes the game even better. I do think, however they nailed the leveling process though!

Twitch Jelly

Over the past on what is getting close to three years, I have been an avid twitch (stream) watcher. Primarily because I ran out of TV shows to watch, and Youtube got stale. It wasnt until early this year I began to stream, in doing so I noticed things that deeply bother me. Its troubles me that, at least from my perspective; that only highly sociable, pleasant, and kind people get the views and or attention - Including promotions, free gifts, etc.  I want a fair and just streaming community, where even assholes, cynics, and socially awkward people can be treated equally (if that makes sense). Another thing that annoys me is, that if you dont have or choose not to use a webcam, people automatically pass you by. Now, I know hitbox does a better job at highlighting new streamers, so that the view count is fair, and this  is design flaw by twitch. Regardless, some of these issues as mentioned above stem primarily from our culture, and what we consider polite and impolite. I HIGHLY disapprove of the culture re-sensitivity bullshit, and attack on our civil liberties to say what ever we want. (See Collapse of World government Tab). Although, this is just one of my beefs with Streaming, the Internet, and our culture as a whole. I know if a girl is streaming, its instantly 3x more viewers. However, I dont have a problem with that, female streamers will almost always get that kind of attention because people cannot control their primal lust very well - not much can be done for this on my end. In regards to the financial side of streaming, I understand the appeal to make money from donations by playing games - but I just dont approve of people getting "free" money for lounging about. Yes, I know im simplifying it, and I know there is ALOT that goes into maintaining a stream in which it could earn you enough income to be a job. However, I just dont approve of this kind of job. Moreoever, another thing that bothers me, primarily with the big names in Twitch such as Swifty. Is there is a subscriber only chat - Which excludes new potential followers by not letting them voice their opinion and or help the streamer. IMO, If your viewer base is that large, and you have the income build a professional website with your own stream built in. By doing this, not only can you get creative with your moderators, chat settings, and your overall stream. It will also take some stress off twitch, and allow other streamers to have their turn in the spotlight.

WoW Update

Been awhile since my last wow update or my last post for that matter. However, a lot of drama has happened recently I thought it best to share these events. I last left off here.

My memory is a bit skewed I dont recall If was kicked of left that guild but needless to say, I havent been in Legion of the Axe for months. Shortly after leaving I decided not to dump all my toons in one guild this time. I put each toon in a powerful guild, to have some options for raiding. However, it doesnt help me this late in the expansion cycle. My server is very raid focused and alot of guilds are dead. I dont pay much attention to the guilds my alts are in right now. This post is focused directly on my most recent guild : "Antisocial Club", which was #2 on the server. For many months I stuck to myself did a raid with them once in awhile but didnt do much overall. It wasnt until I got geared up, which btw guild didnt help much with, was primarily through pugs or Openraid. In fact, I have this problem in EVERY guild. The gm or raid leader will make a group they 1 shot bosses, and from there will essentially play favorites and not alternate people unless the class/spec is close or if content is on farm and they dont care anymore.  Last week I wanted to raid and do more events. I presented a question for debate, which probably came off as passive aggressive in mail cuz im cheap to send 2 letters. I was upset because of how they did their events. You were required to browse the forums and signup for them, they refused to use the in-game calendar. To me the in-game calendar is more efficient. (Yes, for large guilds the 100 character limit is a nuisance.) However, I know I am not the only person who has a wonky schedule and having to waste time in a site to signup for something, and no being told most cases where exactly i can sign up for them is ridiculous. I need to have a few options for events and raids, in case plans change. I know Open raid sounds like a great solution but I want to raid with people I know, maybe not IRL but with those I know will do their best to get the job done. And not just disband and not likely hear from again when raid time is up.  So, after sending a similarly worded letter as read above, what I got from the GM was rage, I skimmed it. I felt at that time it was best to let it go for right now. So, I reluctantly after sending the letter signed up on the guild site and signed up for Challenge modes. A week passed and I was able to get my butt carried through 9/9 gold runs. I After which, I was very pleased of how things went so I decided to write a letter/thread on the forums. I discussed a few things in that thread. Including but not limited to:
  • apology for blunt letter last week
  • re-elaboration of letter, more clearly written and expressed
  • Thanking the gm for the run
  • About me, and raid habbits
As I was writing the post, I made sure to tell the gm I was posting it, shortly after posting i get kicked. I have no idea why, no reason was given. The last thing I said in guild chat was. I posted a small novel in guild forum. Which should not be reason to kick. Im advertising their own site, and admitting to using it. Which is good PR. I still dont know to this day. At least i got the cm carries outta the deal. My search to find another guild for my main begins again. I have trouble finding guilds though.

My Requirements and needs are:

  • raids 2-3 a week/focuses on progression.  (no Sundays
  • Raids 6-7pm server.
  • Has a Mature Player base/Can handle mature language and jokes
  • Guild that can deal with criticism and constructive feedback
  • Guild that uses the calendar and NOT a guild site for raiding or events
  • Social and Helpful
Two weeks after I posted this, I got into a new guild called xLR , another top ranked guild -honestly I had no expectations to get in. Their application was so ridiculous and eventually I just put in random answers. I was basically giving off the FU tone, in the way I was typing my responses. And somehow i got accepted, i dunno why. Either way, im enjoying the guild so far, and have been meeting my requirements above.

This Blog isn’t dead. Its Resting!

Hello, my one fan of this blog. Im sorry I havent posted in a while, but not much has been going on. As mentioned prior I use my Facebook page as my own personal blog because its quicker and have everyone on ignore. I have gathered enough information to make a blog post. In Regards to a missing post. I was dis-satisfied with the December 2013 post so am removing it, and editing it into this one. Also, If you did not notice, more often than not I will find interesting youtube clips or mini documentaries and post them as my own personal blog update, which is one of the reasons i removed the December post. I am going to attempting to balance out links and text. So, it looks more organized. In Regards to my more recent 2014 posts. I will say some things are more personal than I feel comfortable sharing but I will post some of my opinions I have saving up and my overall outlook on life.

Late April to September 2014:

I'm still annoyed at Facebook and it has lost its appeal 3 years ago, and just put up with it (Originally shared last year)

June 11: Whilst waiting at doctor's office catching glimpses of the tv but always able to hear topics of discussion, I remembered why I hate talk shows and news for that matter hate how they censor themselves; in addition, some of the topics they discuss they have no right to be talking about with such limited view points and knowledge on them

August 18th :  (Pro Youtube Rant) : Just because "x" % of videos on YouTube are garbage or pure opinion doesn't mean there aren't any based on fact and years of research! - Generally condensed in 3-15min clips to help get the point across and allow users to look more into specific topics

August 18th: Duh: Im sick of the middle east bull shit and hearing about the cop shooting brown crap. Cops are corrupt and slightly racist and honestly everyone is, get over it and report some real news!

August 24th  : High schools Kill Creativity!

On August 31st, posted something humorous, cause a 100 pack is for Alcoholics

Sept 5 : I have been to this channel before and am always amazed and impressed what can be done with common objects. The lag switch may be fun to build to prank someone! #Lifehacks

Sept 7 : I support ISIS ideology but don't necessarily agree with their methods on which they obtain them. At this point they have such bad press it wont matter what they do. You see, ISIS originally was an anti government group trying to fix their politically corrupt system. However, it quickly turned into a religious conflict. I saw I understand them, because I can see the US eventually standing against their government, and can easily see similar problems arise. To me, Religion always makes things more complicated, which is one of the reasons i became an atheist to begin with. I hated dealing with bullshit.

Sept 8 : This is older news but forgot to post upon it. I found nude celebrity photo hack and exploitation to be very funny, considering nearly all of the photos were on the icloud. I knew the moment Icloud came out something like this could happen, its a very insecure system to begin with. Moreover, if you you dont want sensitive data or photos to be public, dont keep them on a digital device weather it be: phone, computer, ipod, w/e. Thought that was common sense. Guess not. That's what makes this funny because the owners of that content stored thier data in-securely and its partially their fault to begin with

Sept 8 : I laugh/chuckle at people who think cancer, aids, etc will be cured. There's too much money to be made from the placebo effect than the actual cure. - sure we may have the technology to cure it but doubt the general public will have access to it
